Director - Soil & Water Management
A Saudi national, he holds a Ph.D. in Soil Science from the Soil and Water Department, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, USA. He has extensive experience conducting agricultural research for developing countries and regional networking projects.
He has worked with the National Agriculture and Water Research Center, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as an Assistant Director General, Soil and Irrigation section head, and a Research Assistant for more than twenty-five years.
Before joining the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) from 2012-2017, Dr. Alshankiti was employed with International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA- APRP) Arabian Peninsula Regional Program as a farm soil and water management consultant.
He has served as a Member of the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on soil (ITPS) – Global Soil Partnership (GSP) – FAO from 2012-2014.
